1. Tell me about yourself.
Hello everyone my name is Maria Saldana and I am the oldest of three children which has helped me gain leadership skills, dedicate myself in school, and achieve many task to show my younger brother and sister they can do it as well. I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance. With four years studying and earning my degree it demonstrates that I am a hardworking, dedicated person. I enjoy going to school and learn new material that will help me in the future. Not only am I completely focused in school, but I am also involved in my community to help other people around me. I have done community service at my school and at my church to help the people around the neighborhood. I am great at organizing everything I have to do throughout the day, and am very punctual to get many task completed each day.
2. Why should I hire you?
You should hire me for this job because I have had experience working in an actual financing office. I earned an internship for two years at an actual business firm, that helped me gain experience and skills that I will use in this job. I know how to balance my priorities between home and work which will help me focus on the tasks that I will need to complete. This job is right for me because I will look for patterns that I know will help the business grow in this economy and continue to gain success for the future.
3.What is your long-range objective?
My long-range objective is to become one of the best well known financial analyst because I want to help other make the best investment for their business. I want to know more trends and reasoning of what is going on in the economy. I plan to obtain a higher position in the business and be involved in more decision making for the business. I want to be someone who would help apprentice financial analyst to move high up in the field.
4.How has your education prepared you for your career?
My education has helped me prepared for my career as a financial analyst by providing internships that helped me gained experience These past four years have helped me gain the knowledge I need for this field. The professors taught me new skills and gave advice that are important to know in order to become successful. Not only did my education happen in the classroom, but also being involved in student government helped me put the skills and knowledge in action.
5. Are you a team player?
I am a team player because when I am working with a new group of people, I always listen to their ideas. There is always a team leader, and the other members need to come to an agreement. I am willing to compromise with other people to combine our ideas, and I am not the type of person who will bring down anyone else idea. I always listen and give suggestions to the whole group that will please everyone in one way. In a group project for my Economics class, we needed to come up with a budget for a business and we each needed to agree on the amount. In the group assignment I decided to hear all options from everyone in the group and give my own idea. I did not agree with one of my group members idea, but instead of saying their idea would not work, I would give suggestions that would help make it better. I did my best to avoid any major conflict with other team member because working well with others would help get the work done.
6. Have you ever had a conflict with a professor or boss? How was is resolved?
I have had a conflict with my mathematics professors about a particular topic in Calculus. I knew the topic very well, but found a different way that would help get to the same answer. The professor wanted me to find the solution the way she taught it, and would not accept any other way. Instead of debating and arguing with the professor I decided to go and personally talk to her during office hours. I explained why I felt I should continue solving the problems a different way and she agreed. The one condition we agreed on was that on any test or final for her class, I needed to do it her way. We both agreed it is important to know how to solve a problem multiple of ways because there are many options to get the answer.
7. What is your greatest weakness?
My greatest weakness is public speaking because when I tend to speak in front of a large audience, I tend to forget everything that I was going to say. In school, I began to participate more in class, and talked more in front of others. I talked in front of the class, and I have slowly began to talk to more individuals in a group. Every time I would have to talk in front of a crowd, I would begin to think that if I can talk in front of twenty people then I can talk to fifty people. Every time I needed to speak in public, there would be a little but more people that showed me I need to project more, have good eye contact and grab the attention of the audience.
8. If I were to ask your professors (or your boss) to describe you, what would they say?
My professors would say that I was a student who would take time to do their assignments and study for receive the highest grade I could. They would also say that I am someone who puts 100% of my effort into anything I set my mind to. Even though I want to be successful myself, my professors would also say that I achieve my small goals in order to reach my larger goals in life. My professors would also say that I am very punctual and organize with both my work and home duties because I want to accomplish many task each and every day.
9.What qualities do you feel a successful manager should have?
A successful manager should be organized, punctual, and friendly. When a manager is organized the workers know what needs to be done at the job. The manager should know how to run the business really well when the owners are not there. When a successful manager is punctual it shows the owners that they are taking their job very seriously. The manager should also have a good connection with other workers because the less problems involved during work will help everything flow easily.
10. If you had to live your life over again, what one thing would you change?
If I could live my life over again I would change the way I made friends with certain people when I was younger. At the time, I did not know who were my real friends and which friends only wanted to see me fail. If I had made better choices when I was younger on who I should keep in touch with then I would have had many skills at a young age. The people who I hang out is important because it builds up my confidence when there are many people motivating me to do better and see something special in me that I do not notice.
